The excuse that a lot of people use for not staying in touch is….LIFE. Yes, we all have to live our lives but we shouldn’t let that stop us from staying connected with our family and friends.
I have said that “People make time for what they care about.” It true. Just think about it……..
-Do you care about your parents? You make time for them.
-Do you care about your spouse? You make time for them?
-Do you care about your children? You make time for them.
-Do you care about your health? You make time to go to the doctor, eat right, exercise, etc.
I could go on and on but you get my point, right? People make time for what they care about.
So instead of making excuses about how you can’t stay in touch with your family and friends, make a plan to STAY IN TOUCH. Don’t let miles or busyness keep you from staying connected.
- Put a reminder/alarm on your phone to call or text.
Alarms help me so much! I always have my phone nearby so having a little reminder for me to text or call someone is perfect. The alert goes off and I get it done! It only takes a few seconds to text and phone calls don’t have to be long. - Set up weekly/monthly calls
As I said earlier, everyone has to live their lives but if you can set aside a time each week/month to call someone this would just be a part of your life. Easy peasy. - Send “happy mail”
Who doesn’t love receiving something in their mailbox besides bills and junk?? A letter, card, or care package could brighten someone’s day in ways that you didn’t even imagine.
These are just three simple things that can go a long way and help you keep a lasting relationship with people you care about. With how things are in our world right now, doing these three simples things could be huge.
What are some ways that you stay connected with your family and friends?
