When pregnant with my first born I read A LOT of baby books, magazines and articles. It was my first baby and I had to make sure I had everything right. From the stroller to the car seat to the crib. I wanted the safest and the best. (That wouldn’t break the bank) So with doing all of my reading the Diaper Genie was the thing to have so we bought one. I read that it had an “odor lock system” and I liked that I could open it with my foot. We used it and then we discovered………it doesn’t do a good job at keeping the odor of spoiled diapers well. When you open the pail to put a diaper in, it opens up where you can smell what’s already in there. UGH! I thought about buying the A&H Diaper Pail but I talked myself out of it because the Diaper Genie was the one to have. I sprinkled baking soda in the bottom of the pail and in the bag hoping to not smell the stinky diapers when I open it to put a diaper in. No success. :-/ So when pregnant with my second child I told my husband “We’re getting the Arm & Hammer Diaper Pail!”
I bought the A&H diaper pail and I was one happy mama! It has a self-sealing system and it has an odor lock system (that actually works). The use of baking soda helps A LOT! Each time you put a diaper in, once you close it a sprinkle of baking soda goes into the bag. Also, the self-sealing system prevents you from smelling spoiled diapers when you open the pail. The only down fall is that you can’t open the pail with your foot. That’s ok by me though. Not having to smell the spoiled diapers is AWESOME! I would recommend the A&H Diaper Pail to any mom-to-be.
For the moms out there, what diaper pail did you purchase and why? What are your likes and dislikes?
