Recently my husband discovered that aluminum is in antiperspirant. I told him this a few years ago obviously he wasn’t listening. lol Anyway, apparently studies have been done and the aluminum in antiperspirant has shown to be cancer causing. I did some research. Some articles said yes to the aluminum being cancer causing and some said no. So he bought some Tom’s deodorant. Worked for him but not for me. I smelled stinky throughout the day. (Yes, I’m being real. lol) My husband was constantly getting on me because I kept using my Secret Clinical Strength. That’s what worked for me. No wetness and no stinky underarms. He wouldn’t give me a break so I decided to do some research to see if I could find a recipe for homemade deodorant. I found this one http://nutbutterluver.blogspot.com/2013/06/diy-deodorant-antiperspirant-aluminum.html on Pinterest and decided to give it a try. The recipe called for beeswax pellets but I couldn’t find any in Michaels or JoAnn Fabrics so I bought the beeswax block from Michaels because I was being impatient and didn’t want to wait for it to come in the mail from Amazon.
I made this deodorant two weeks ago. Wanted to try it out for a while before I shared my experience with you. Throughout the day I am running around playing with my 22 month old son, walking/exercise, running errands, cleaning and cooking. I haven’t smelled stinky and no wetness! It works! 🙂 It doesn’t stain my clothes. It smells good also. The only problem is that it doesn’t roll on smooth. Gotta figure out a way to alter the recipe so it’s smooth. Right now it’s February in Florida so it’s not HOT yet. I’ll see how this deodorant works for me this summer. I’ll keep you posted.
Had you heard/read about the aluminum in antiperspirant isn’t good for you? If it really is cancer causing would you change to something different? I know that there are plenty things in this world that can harm/kill you. Some reports are true, some not but if making a small change can give you more years of life and it won’t harm you why not make a change?? Something to think about.

I’ve wanted to do this forever! I’m doing it as soon as I empty out my current deodorant. Tom’s did not work for me either! I have all the ingredients, even pellets, so I can’t wait to do this.
I’ve tried over the last 3 years to eliminate all fragrances because I’ve heard they are cancer causing too. This will be a great excuse to use my natural essential oils!
Cool! Let me know how yours turn out and how well it works!
