1st sisterlocks retightening!!

Yesterday, May 4, 2010, I went in to get my first retightening.  Everything went well!  She told me that my locks looked good.  I didn’t have any slippage or breakage.  My hair has grown some since my installation.  (See pictures below)  I’m happy to know that my locks are coming along well.  I wasn’t worried, I thought they were doing great but to hear my sisterlocks consultant tell me that, I felt even better. 🙂 A lot of blogs that I have read, people were talking about slippage, breakage and disliking their hair.  I haven’t experienced any of that.  I love my hair, STILL!  I have had an issue with flakes.  I asked JoVanka, my consultant, about it and she said that it was normal because my scalp has been use to getting oils/grease and now I’m not putting any oil/grease on my scalp.  Not moisturizing your scalp prevents slippage and helps with the development of your locks.  OH MY……..I’m going on about maintainance of sisterlocks and I’m suppose to be talking about my first retightening session.  (Sorry about that.)  Anywho, yesterday was exactly four weeks since I was installed with my sisterlocks.  My next retightening is scheduled for June 2, 2010.  I’m going in every four weeks to make sure that my locks are developing well.  After a few months my retightening sessions may increase to every five-six weeks.   I am pleased with my sisterlocks check up and I’ll keep you updated as changes and check ups come along.
